2009 Achievements
Despite a difficult global economic situation, Coatzacoalcos Port operated 5.4 millions Mtons of commercial cargo in 2009, which was only 6.6% less than the amount operated in 2008. Export of beer through the rail ferry service and import of phosphate rock for industrial processes were the most representative cargo with the main decrease in freight movement.

Regarding the Logistics Platform of the Isthmus, the Port of Coatzacoalcos participated with 29% of volume traded by the shipping line MSC in the Port of Salina Cruz, which in 2009 received 23 arrivals with a total of 9,291 TEU's. The mainly products moved by this service were beer, polyethylene and parts of tractors.
Private investments in the port reached $27 million pesos, highlighting the construction of the Ethyl Alcohol Deodorization Smart Pass plant, with an investment of $8.9 million pesos. Moreover, Oxiteno Mexico made an investment of $6.5 million pesos for the installation of storage tanks and lines feedstock and ethylene oxide booths; Celanese Corporation made adjustments to reduce emission of organic vapors investing a total of $5.8 million pesos. Vopak Mexico, Sociedad Cooperativa de Estibadores and Westway, for its part did maintenance and minor works.

Another important 2009 work was the Parque del Bicentenario (Bicentennial Park), which was built on the grounds of that is now known as Faro de Allende (Allende Lighthouse) with an investment of $18 million pesos. This park is part of the projects to be carried out in order to commemorate the two hundredth anniversary of the Independence of Mexico and the centennial of the Mexican Revolution. The project consists of a zoo, an observation deck in the old lighthouse, a cafe, a plant nursery and the redesign of the museum.

Thus, the Port of Coatzacoalcos, Leader Bulk in Mexico, works in order to consolidate itself as the best logistic option in the south-southeast of the country and with that direction begins a new year full of challenges that we are sure will be achieved.
