Port of Coatzacoalcos, performed mock hurricane warning

As part of the "2014 Hurricane Season" operative, implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Transport, through the Pilot Weather Directorate General of Merchant Marine, the national Operational Safety of human life at sea and inland waters was established.

This in order to safeguard human life in national waters and ports during this hurricane season, which comprises from 15 May to 30 November this year in the Mexican Pacific and from 1 June to 30 November in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

The drill began under a hurricane warning issued by the Central Weather map course, the itinerary Coatzacoalcos and the Port Authority, to the port community; the alert was simulated with a newsletter in which the port community is said to act according to their plans depending on the light early warning.

The staff at this Port Authority responded to the alert, making preparations to guard people, infrastructure, cargo, goods and information, together with the heads of each area, plus protective measures were taken to avoid violating the enclosure protection in the absence of staff due to the pre-evacuation to the phenomenon.

Thus, the Port of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico's leader in bulk cargo is prepared in the event of natural phenomena that may affect its operation and the integrity of its port community.
