The Port Authority of Coatzacoalcos implements renewable energy systems
February 27, 2012
With an investment of approximately $ 86,000 USD using German technology and skilled labor in Mexico, API Coatzacoalcos has installed on top of one of its warehouses, a PV system interconnected to the power grid, in order to provide power to the wineries area, docks, roads and buildings that are located on the north side of the port.
By capturing the light and heat emitted by the sun, these panels generate clean and renewable energy, compared with energy generated by other non-renewable processes, such as thermoelectric and nuclear. With the use of solar energy, is reduced significantly emissions of gases that cause global warming.
With this project, API Coatzacoalcos will stop the emision of over 17 tons of CO2 equivalent, while reducing power consumption by 50% approximately.
Aware of the adverse consequences caused by the consumption of energy generated by power plants to the environment, the Port of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico's leader in bulk cargo, performs actions for sustainable development.
