General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine visits the Port of Coatzacoalcos

In order to chair the Session LXXII the Board of Directors of the Port of Coatzacoalcos, we have the presence of the General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine, Alejandro Dominguez Chacon.
As part of the activities planned during his visit Mr. Chacón Dominguez toured the inside of the Port also oversaw the dredging and construction of the new dock and the Port patios in Laguna de Pajaritos.
Before the tour, Mr. Chacón Dominguez gave a press conference in the boardroom of the entity, accompanied by Mr. Sergio Vera, Director General of Public Works and Port Authority and Mr. Gilberto Rios Ruiz, Director General of API Coatzacoalcos. At the conference announced progress on the National Port System, reporting that in the past 5 years we have invested $ 39.4 million pesos, of which 56.7% were federal funds and 43.3% is private investment. This reflects significant progress in various ports of the country in the Pacific: Guaymas, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas and Puerto Chiapas and the Gulf: Altamira, Tuxpan, Veracruz and Dos Bocas.
With respect to the Port of Coatzacoalcos stressed that the development of the Port in Laguna de Pajaritos has an advance of 85% and has invested $ 870 million pesos from 2008 to 2011, the new port area has a berthing position of 270 meters length, and a load capacity of 10 tons. per m2, in addition to receiving container ships and superposter postpanamax. He also mentioned that another relevance work at the port operation are the maintenance works, with an investment of $ 30 million dollars made at the next pier nose and Allende, which will conclude early next year.
On the other hand, reported that in 2012, the API Coatzacoalcos will work investment of $ 175 million pesos in works such as maintenance dredging the Río Coatzacoalcos, development of port infrastructure in Laguna de Pajaritos, construction yard routes I and extension of the avenue No 7 into the Coatzacoalcos port area.
As regards the development of commercial projects the port mentioned that it is conducting a private investment of $ 16.2 million pesos for the construction of a plant anhidración of ethyl alcohol as part of the facilities of Smart Pass, on the other hand , the increase has occurred in the import and transfer of high fructose syrup for the soft drink industry in the states of Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, Chiapas and Oaxaca.
Also announced progress in the process taking place with SENASICA for approval of a checkpoint refrigerated cargo, which will allow additional load handling this type of ferrobuque service. Finally, he noted at the start of works in Minatitlán Refinery, the company Mexplus Ports was designated by PMI to temporarily operate the export of coke in the Port Coatzacoalcos.
With this type of project the Port of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico's leader in bulk cargo, is becoming a reference in the National Port System.
