Navy Day was first celebrated in 1942 to honor the crews of Mexican tankers were sunk by German submarines, wich resulted in the loss of many Mexican sailors. Date was chosen, because it was the June 1, 1917, when Article 32 of the constitution was applied, establishing the requirement for national flag vessels, to be manned by Mexicans.

This way the Port of Coatzacoalcos, bulk cargo leader in Mexico and the port community, celebrate and thank the Merchant Navy for their work in benefit of our country's port development.
