November 11, 2011. Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz

The Federal Government invests 150 million dollars in the rehabilitation of Bridge Coatzacoalcos I, as part of the maintenance works to the infrastructure of bridges and roads in the State of Veracruz.

The Ministry of Communications and Transport assigned the work to FREYSSINET, a company that will be responsible for the evaluation and repair of the steel structure and underpinnings of the bridge, with the purpose of providing fluency to the vehicular stream. The bridge Coatzacoalcos I, is located upstream of the port of Coatzacoalcos, at km 2 100 Coatzacoalcos road to Puerto Juarez, the infrastructure consists of two-lane highway and a body of track to provide access to rail in the Southeast.

Corrective actions for this important structure are:

• Re-underpinning of the stack 29, with 4.5 m in diameter and 35 cm shows settlements.

• Strengthening the body metal beams on the axis road 9-10, 10-11, and 11-12. (These will work at night, with complete closure of the bridge).

• Re-leveling of boards 28-29 and 29-30.

• Replacement of floor system (with total closure of the bridge).

• Demolition and replacement of parapet (railing).

The completion of the repairs culminating in the lifting frame assembly, currently located in the courtyards of the Port Authority of Coatzacoalcos.

The SCT Center Veracruz, is the agency responsible for overseeing the work also coordinate meetings and bridge closure information for the information of users and the general public.



For this important communication route, flow over 4,000 thousand vehicles daily, allowing the link and development the Port of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico's leader in bulk cargo, with the South East.
